Doncaster law firm Taylor Bracewell participated in a charity will-writing campaign and raised an astounding £65,000, making it the highest-giving firm overall and in the campaign’s history.
Taylor Bracewell has participated in the Will Aid campaign every year since 2011 and has helped raise a total of £204,956 by writing wills free of charge and encouraging clients to donate to Will Aid instead of paying their usual fees for doing so.
The money was divided among the campaign’s nine partner charities, which offer support to a variety of causes in the UK and elsewhere.
Lauren Smith, from the firm, said: “We love taking part in Will Aid and wanted to make this year our biggest effort yet. Over the past few years, we have seen a change in how clients want to write their wills with many appointments taking place remotely.
“Being able to offer this service has allowed us to create even more wills, with last year’s campaign attracting 1,100 enquiries.
“A will does make life easier for the loved ones who are left behind. The whole process is very simple and can take as little as half an hour to complete.
“We are extremely proud to have raised as much as we did during Will Aid, especially after the incredibly difficult time everyone has experienced in recent years.”
The generosity of solicitors who have taken part in Will Aid since it launched in 1988 has helped raise more than £24 million for charity in donations alone, with many millions more in pledged charitable legacies.
Jonathan Chase, chair of Will Aid, said: “Year after year, we are blown away by the generosity of solicitors who choose to volunteer their time and expertise to raise money for Will Aid and we are delighted to congratulate Taylor Bracewell for being the highest fundraiser ever.
“Our nine partner charities rely on donations and the money raised during this campaign will provide vital support to help continue life-changing work both here in the UK and around the world.”
Peter de Vena Franks, Will Aid’s campaign director, added: “The support of Taylor Bracewell is hugely appreciated. The exceptional amount they raised in last year’s campaign will help change lives for the better through the invaluable work of our nine partner charities.
“I’d like to thank Taylor Bracewell for consistently going above and beyond for the campaign and returning year after year to volunteer their time and expertise to protect people’s wishes and support charity.”
