Morrish Solicitors LLP announces retirement of senior partner Tom Morrish

Tom Morrish, senior partner at Leeds-based Morrish Solicitors LLP will retire from the firm at the end of March 2025.

Morrish Solicitors LLP today announces the forthcoming retirement of Senior Partner Tom Morrish, who will be stepping down at the end of March 2025 after a distinguished career spanning over three decades.

Tom qualified as a solicitor in 1992 and began his legal career in personal injury litigation before transitioning to wills and estates, a field in which he has excelled for over 20 years. He has served as senior partner for the past six years, leading the firm with dedication and expertise. Based at the firm’s Yeadon office, Tom has been a well-known figure in the local community, actively participating in various events and initiatives.

Morrish Solicitors, originally established in 1882, has remained privately owned and headquartered in Leeds. The firm adopted its current name in 1919 and the Morrish family’s involvement continued through successive generations, with Tom’s uncle John joining in the late 1940s and his father Richard following in the late 1950s. Today, Morrish Solicitors boasts a team of nearly 70 professionals across four West Yorkshire offices, serving 34 trade unions and association clients nationwide.

Throughout his career, Tom has been a staunch advocate for elderly and vulnerable clients, ensuring they receive fair treatment and expert legal guidance. His contributions extend beyond the legal profession; he serves as regional director for the Yorkshire region of the Association of Lifetime Lawyers and is an active member of the community, notably as Group Scout Leader of the 14th Airedale Scout Group.

Managing partner David Sorensen expressed gratitude for Tom’s leadership and contributions: “We’d like to thank Tom for all the years of hard work and dedication he has put into the firm. Morrish Solicitors has changed immeasurably since he joined, and Tom’s commitment over 30 years has been essential to the successes we have achieved. The partners, the whole team, and I wish Tom all the best in his well-earned retirement.”

Reflecting on his tenure, Tom Morrish said, “It’s been a privilege to work at Morrish Solicitors during such a successful period in its history. I’ve endeavoured to maintain the high standards set by my forebears and, with the current partners and staff, am delighted that the firm is in a strong position for the future. I leave the firm in good hands.”

Following Tom’s retirement, partner Emma Garfitt will assume leadership of the wills and estates team and will also manage the Yeadon branch from April 2025.
