Yorkshire Legal Awards will mark 24th anniversary with sold-out success

The Yorkshire Legal Awards, commemorating its 24th anniversary this year, has seen a complete sell-out of available tickets months in advance.

A highly anticipated fixture in the regional schedule, the Awards serve as a platform to honour and acknowledge the most exceptional legal talents within the area. This is not the first time the Awards have sold out, underscoring the event’s popularity.

Launched in 2000, the Yorkshire Legal Awards brings together members of the legal community from the region, providing a platform to acknowledge and celebrate their manifold accomplishments. This black-tie event holds a significant spot on the calendar, offering professionals in the legal industry the chance to come together for a memorable evening of networking, socialising and celebrating.

Spanning across various award categories, the recognition encompasses a broad spectrum, ranging from prominent corporate firms to talented individuals. This year’s event will award diverse awards from Lawtech Initiative of the Year, to the hotly contested Rising Star of the Year Award.

Hosting the event will be Helen Skelton. Helen’s journey began with local radio and television, evolving into prominent roles with Countryfile and BBC Olympics coverage. Her accomplishments include completing the Namibia Ultra Marathon, a solo 2,010 km kayaking expedition up the Amazon, and an impressive stint on Strictly Come Dancing.

The grand event will take place on 5 October 2023 at New Dock Hall, near Clarence Dock, a remarkable £350 million waterfront development in Leeds. The festivities will commence with a drinks reception, followed by a dinner, the awards ceremony, and entertainment.

A distinguished and independent panel of experts from Yorkshire’s legal community will judge the awards. The panel is refreshed each year; this year’s panel includes esteemed members of the Yorkshire Law Society, the Law Society of England and Wales, and a former Yorkshire Lawyer of the Year winner. The judges carefully selected their 2023 shortlist from over 270 submissions by more than 100 unique entrants.
