Richard Watson of Crombie Wilkinson Solicitors has taken over as president of the Yorkshire Law Society.
Watson takes the reins of the Yorkshire Law Society today, and will hold the position for the next 12 months. He replaces Pamela Precious of Harrowells.
Watson follows in the footsteps of many from Crombie Wilkinson—and their associated practices—who have served as president in previous years, including Jennifer Bartram, who in 2010/11 became the first woman to hold the role for the society.
“I am enthusiastic to be taking over at exciting times when the Yorkshire Law Society is on the brink of modernising its membership structure,” Watson said. “I believe it is very necessary for the Yorkshire Law Society to adapt and modernise in order that it remains a powerful and effective voice for professional law practitioners in our area.”
“I hope that in the ensuing year, the Yorkshire Law Society will be able to continue to foster valuable relationships between members of the profession and provide an opportunity for members to meet on a social basis.”
Watson has been associated with Crombie Wilkinson for nearly 40 years. He is currently a director and head of private client at the firm.
His early years were spent in litigation, but he has specialised in charity law and private client matters, coupled with contested probate and housing work, for many years.
