Winston Solicitors appoints James Urquhart-Burton to launch new Continuing Healthcare claims department in Leeds.
Leeds-based Winston Solicitors has marked the start of 2025 with a significant expansion of its legal services, appointing James Urquhart-Burton as head of Continuing Healthcare claims. He joins from Ridley & Hall Solicitors.
James, a seasoned expert in Continuing Healthcare funding, will lead the firm’s new department, bringing a wealth of experience and passion to support clients navigating this intricate area of law.
Continuing Healthcare is a package of health and social care provided to adults with long-term complex health needs. The package is completely funded by the NHS and is only available to people who pass an assessment by an integrated care board. As an example, Continuing Healthcare claims can arise when adults are denied a certain level of care, or have been incorrectly classed as inadmissible.
James’s appointment represents a strategic move by Winston Solicitors, which aims to broaden its already robust private law offering, which includes family, residential property, and wills, trusts, and probate services.
The new department will integrate closely with the private law team to ensure a comprehensive and seamless service for clients.
Jonathan Winston, managing partner, welcomed the appointment, stating, “We’ve entered 2025 from a position of strength. Last year saw the firm take on several new hires, and with James joining the firm, we continue in our business growth and to provide legal solutions to our clients.
“James brings specialist legal knowledge along with genuine care to support people, provide effective advocacy and secure lifechanging results for his clients.”
