Building on firm foundations

Expressing his enthusiasm for the new role, Steven commented; “I am extremely excited and honoured to take on the mantle of managing partner… The management board and I have very clear ambitions for the firm.” With a vision for substantial growth, Steven plans to increase the firm’s turnover by over 50% within the next five years and an impressive 100% within a decade.

Reflecting on the importance of independence and fostering a supportive culture, Steven emphasised, “Passionate people make a difference… Our values of straightforward, respectful, and ambitious will define our culture internally and for our clients.” His commitment to maintaining Ward Hadaway’s legacy while driving innovation underscores his strategic approach to leadership.

Steven’s journey within the firm spans 12 years, during which he has made significant contributions, particularly as head of the commercial dispute resolution department. As deputy managing partner, he worked closely with Martin Hulls to ensure a smooth transition and continuity of leadership.

Passion for ESG

Addressing the firm’s broader responsibilities, Steven reiterated his dedication to environmental, social, and governance (ESG) initiatives. “It remains a fundamental passion of mine to ensure generous investments in social value projects, involvement in programs that encourage social mobility and diversity,” he affirmed.

Acknowledging Martin Hulls’ tenure and contributions, Steven praised his predecessor’s leadership during challenging times. “Martin has successfully charted the firm through an incredibly testing economic and sociological period… The firm is enormously grateful for his tireless efforts,” he noted.

In response, Martin expressed confidence in Steven’s capabilities, stating, “With Steven’s energy, strategic leadership, and passion, I very much look forward to seeing the firm continue to grow and expand.” His endorsement underscores the continuity and confidence in Ward Hadaway’s leadership transition.

With Steven Petrie at the helm, Ward Hadaway is poised for a decade of growth, innovation, and community impact. His strategic vision and commitment to excellence signal a promising future for the firm and its stakeholders.
