Leading Yorkshire law firm strengthens leadership team with key financial appointment
Switalskis Solicitors has strengthened its leadership team with the appointment of Alex Moore as its first-ever Chief Financial Officer (CFO), marking a significant step in the firm’s growth strategy.
A chartered accountant and ICAEW member, Alex Moore brings a wealth of experience in financial strategy and management, having previously served as CFO at precision engineering company Cutwel. During her tenure at Cutwel, she played a pivotal role in reinforcing financial structures and driving efficiency. Her expertise in financial leadership within large corporate environments will be instrumental in Switalskis’ next phase of development.
In her new role, Alex will focus on delivering targeted financial management information to support business decision-making. Her priorities will include refining the budgeting process, reporting on financial returns, managing external financial relationships, ensuring effective cash and capital management, and overseeing external advisers as the firm expands.
Speaking about her appointment, Alex Moore said: “Switalskis is a forward-thinking firm with a strong culture and a talented team. Throughout my career, I have implemented financial reporting, discipline, and structures that drive success, and I am eager to apply this expertise to further strengthen Switalskis’ financial controls. My focus will be on enhancing management reporting and advising on operational efficiencies to support the firm’s growth ambitions. By providing a robust financial foundation, I aim to enable the leadership team to focus on strategic expansion while continuing to deliver exceptional client service.”
John Durkan, managing director of Switalskis Solicitors, welcomed Alex’s appointment, highlighting the importance of strong financial leadership in sustaining the firm’s success. He commented: “Introducing the CFO role is an exciting milestone for Switalskis. As a chartered accountant myself, I recognise the critical role that financial expertise plays in business growth. Up until now, I have been managing both MD and FD responsibilities, but with Alex on board, I can now fully concentrate on driving the firm forward. Her collaborative approach, enthusiasm, and wealth of experience will be invaluable as we continue to strengthen our client offering and deliver outstanding legal services.”
Switalskis Solicitors, which has offices across Yorkshire and London, continues to be a prominent legal presence in the region. The firm has been recognised as “Large Law Firm of the Year” at the Yorkshire Legal Awards and has also earned national recognition as one of the Sunday Times’ Best Places to Work.
