Simon Connolly joins Park Square Barristers

Park Square Barristers has recruited healthcare specialist Simon Connolly in a further expansion of its regulatory and public law team.

Connolly has practised in healthcare regulatory law for more than a decade and joins Park Square to concentrate on his advocacy in this specialist area. His tenancy begins on 29 July.

He is an accomplished inquest advocate with significant experience of representing ‘interested persons’ in inquests engaging Article 2 and heard by a coroner sitting with a jury.

His experience also includes representing healthcare professionals involved in criminal investigations and proceedings, including those which arise following a healthcare-related death.

Connolly has also defended healthcare professionals in fitness to practice and employment disciplinary investigations and proceedings.

Clerk to the regulatory team, Madeleine Gray, said: “This exciting addition to the team is indicative of our continuing success. We look forward to welcoming Simon and working together to expand the team’s healthcare regulatory practise.”

Park Square has also set up a dedicated private prosecution team to take on cases with which the Crown Prosecution Service does not wish to proceed.

Its decision to establish a dedicated team comes as a result of a substantial increase in the number of private prosecution instructions that the chambers has received in recent months and its successful involvement in a number of high-profile cases.

The team will provide initial advice on the likely success of prosecution, right through to conviction in the Crown Court and application for costs from central funds.
