Parklane Plowden adds barrister to family team

Leeds-based Parklane Plowden Chambers has welcomed experienced barrister Emma Gough to its family law team.

Gough, called to the Bar in 2004, joins from Dere Street Barristers, where she practiced for 19 years across Newcastle and York. 

Gough specialises in private children cases and financial remedy proceedings. Her practice includes complex family law matters, such as parental alienation, intractable hostility, and international relocation. She has represented clients at all stages, from first hearings to final hearings, and has expertise in care proceedings and non-accidental injury cases. 

Parklane Plowden Chambers has a strong reputation in family law, earning a Band 1 ranking in family and children law from Chambers & Partners for 2024, and a Band 2 ranking in family: matrimonial finance. The chambers is also highly ranked in other practice areas, including chancery, clinical negligence, employment, and personal injury. 

Expressing her enthusiasm for the move, Gough said, “Parklane Plowden’s family practice has a well-established reputation throughout the circuit and is seeing impressive growth. Founded in 2007 through the merger of Parklane Chambers in Leeds and Plowden Chambers in Newcastle, Parklane Plowden now has 113 members. The chambers recently retained the Chambers of the Year Award at the Yorkshire Legal Awards and continues to be recognised for its excellence in multiple practice areas, including family law.
