Make a compelling case when you enter the Yorkshire Legal Awards 2023

Take a look at the category criteria, updated for 2023

The category criteria for the Yorkshire Legal Awards 2023 are now available to view.

We’ve revamped the criteria and rolled out a new format this year, to enable the judges to quickly get to the heart of your achievements.

See the screenshot below for an example of the results.

The headline change is the format—it’s now in the style of a Q&A. This is designed to simulate an interview between you and the judges, as if you’re pitching your achievements to the panel in person.

This is even more true of video submissions.

The new format also ensures consistency in structure across all submissions, while, in the case of written ones, positioning responses directly beneath each criterion, making the judges’ job that little bit easier.

The criteria themselves have also been tweaked, to ensure only the best of the best are put forward as potential winners.

Of course, these changes do not mean that you can interpret the criteria to suit your achievements and successes—when entering, include everything you think makes your case compelling.

After all, you are lawyers!

The entry process largely remains the same—all that’s required is between 250 and 1,000 words in total, or a video up to three minutes in length. Both formats must follow the Q&A criteria where possible.

We’ll open to submissions in the next week or two.

The independent panel of judges is currently being assembled and we’ll make an announcement on who is participating soon.

And don’t forget to check out the sponsors supporting the Yorkshire Legal Awards this year—we have 17 confirmed already!

Finally, we have a new team working on the Yorkshire Legal Awards this year, for both submissions and sponsorship. Check out their contact details here.
