Commercial and Property litigation specialist solicitor Adam Hollis has joined Chesterfield-based CMP Legal as Dispute Resolution Director as the award-winning Legal 500 firm continues its strategic growth.
Adam joins from Midlands law firm Elliott Mather, where he was Partner and Head of Litigation across the firm’s Nottingham and Derby offices.
Living in North Derbyshire with his young family, Adam said the opportunity to join a progressive, ambitious firm in Chesterfield strongly appealed to him.
He said: “CMP Legal is underpinned by modern values and is very client focused, which has created a dynamic environment for both staff and clients.
“It aligns with my values and how I want to litigate, which is to put client interests at the forefront while achieving sensible, pragmatic outcomes that are in the interests of everyone involved.”
He brings more than 15 years’ experience handling complex disputes for businesses, agricultural clients and private individuals, with expertise spanning commercial litigation, residential and property litigation, professional negligence, partnership disputes, and several highly specialised niche areas.
CMP Legal co-founder and solicitor Stacey Pocock welcomed Adam to the business. She said: “Adam is known for his clear, strategic approach to resolving disputes efficiently and cost effectively. We’re delighted that he has chosen to bring his deep expertise to CMP Legal.
“He joins us at an exciting time for the firm as we continue to grow our services and strengthen our senior leadership team.”
Agricultural litigation is among Adam’s specialist areas, an area where he believes CMP Legal is well positioned geographically.
“Being based on the edge of the Peak District places us in an excellent position to support agricultural clients both locally and nationally,” he said.
Additionally, his legal skillset extends to civil dog law, an increasingly active specialist field in recent years alongside rising dog ownership and breeding activity.
Adam, whose family breeds and shows Bearded Collies, has advised on a number of Royal Kennel Club disciplinary tribunal disputes and appeals tribunal disputes as well as acting on ownership disputes and breeder-related issues both in the UK and internationally.
“By its nature, the world of dog showing is highly competitive, so disputes can arise,” he said.
Adam completed a European, Comparative and International Law degree at the University of Sheffield which also included six months studying in Helsinki, Finland.
Looking ahead, he plans to further develop CMP Legal’s dispute resolution offering. He added: “It’s an exciting prospect in terms of being able to grow the team and bring my diverse and niche skillset to an already strong legal offering.”
Founded in 2021, CMP Legal has risen to become one of the leading law firms in the area, securing a listing in the prestigious Legal 500 ‘Corporate and Commercial: Elsewhere in East Midlands’ category for the last two years.
