Berwins strengthens private client team with estate planning specialist

Berwins Solicitors enhances its private client expertise with the appointment of estate planning specialist Paul Colman.

Law firm Berwins Solicitors, with offices in Leeds, York, and Harrogate, has reinforced its private client expertise with the appointment of one of the UK’s leading estate planning specialists.

Paul Colman has joined Berwins as an associate director, bringing a wealth of experience to the firm’s expanding life team. Paul, who has a strong background working with business owners, agricultural clients, and landed estates, specialises in assisting individuals with complex estate planning needs.

Managing director Danielle Day said, “As a firm, we know the impact that deep expertise can have on the lives of those we support. Paul has that in abundance, and he combines that with an ability to condense complex legal concepts into accessible solutions.”

Paul commented, “I’m delighted to have joined Berwins. “One of the genuine strengths of the firm is the way that all teams work seamlessly together. It’s a collaborative approach I’m passionate about and I’m excited to see the impact this will have on the lives of those we support.”

In addition to working directly with clients, Paul will take on leadership responsibilities within the firm’s estate planning practice. He will collaborate closely with department head and probate specialist Derek Hellawell.

Derek highlighted the benefits of this development, saying: “The creation of two centres of excellence within the life team, one focused on estate planning and one on estate administration, is designed to enhance the client’s experience.

“It means that clients will have direct access to leaders in their respective fields and will help to maintain the high levels of care Berwins is renowned for delivering.”
