Breeze’s transition from rising star to leading individual

John Breeze, the head of wills, trusts, and inheritance disputes at Wake Smith Solicitors, has been recognised by the Legal 500 guide 2024 as a leading individual in his field in the Yorkshire region. Wake Smith Solicitors itself has also been acknowledged in tier two of the contentious trusts and probate category for the same area.

John Breeze assumed leadership of Wake Smith’s wills, trusts and inheritance disputes team in January 2023, transitioning from being recognised as a rising star in the Legal 500 for three consecutive years to leading individual as a result of his promotion.

The Legal 500 lauded Breeze as “an excellent contentious probate lawyer” and “an expert in his field.” His team boasts extensive experience in complex inheritance act claims, will validity disputes, and disagreements between trustees and executors.

John Breeze is also a registered member of the Association of Contentious Trust and Probate Specialists (ACTAPS), further demonstrating his dedication and expertise in this niche area of the law.

Breeze remarked, “Wake Smith is among only a small number of firms who can claim expertise in this niche and developing area of the law, and I am incredibly proud to be named as a Leading Individual in this field in the region.” He emphasised his role in guiding clients, which may include claimants, executors, or beneficiaries, through emotionally and legally challenging issues, aiming for swift and amicable resolutions.

“My job is to guide clients including claimants, executors or beneficiaries, confidently, swiftly and hopefully amicably through a range of emotionally and legally challenging issues, with a view to resolving the matter as quickly and cost-effectively as possible, to allow all parties to move forward and plan with certainty for the future.”

In the 2024 edition of The Legal 500, Wake Smith Solicitors continued to maintain its position as one of Yorkshire and The Humber’s top law firms, receiving recognition in various legal departments. Several individuals within the firm were also commended for their exceptional work.
