Walker Morris appoints new chartered trade mark attorney

Walker Morris has appointed Sakura Proctor as a trade mark attorney in its intellectual property team.

Proctor joins Walker Morris from an international law firm where she practiced as a chartered trade mark attorney. Prior to this, she qualified at a national firm of trade mark and patent attorneys.

Before qualifying as a trade mark attorney, Proctor qualified as a solicitor, specialising in intellectual property law at a boutique firm.

She works on a broad range of contentious and non-contentious trade mark matters, including international portfolio management, filing and renewal programmes for clients, in addition to advising on trade mark opposition and cancellation matters.

Proctor has experience in intellectual property litigation, particularly trade mark infringement and passing off actions. She also advises clients on copyright and design issues and domain name disputes. Sakura is also a member of the Chartered Institute of Trade Mark Attorneys.

Commenting on Proctor’s appointment, Alan Harper, director and head of intellectual property at Walker Morris, said: “We are delighted that Sakura has joined the team, she has a wealth of knowledge and experience in both contentious and non-contentious trade mark matters as well as experience in intellectual property litigation and will be a valuable member of the team.”

“Sakura is a great fit with the team and her appointment will further enhance our capability, enabling Walker Morris to further build upon its position as a leading player in the field of intellectual property law.”

The intellectual property team at Walker Morris includes both solicitors and chartered trade mark and design attorneys, allowing the firm to provide full service advice for all brand matters.
