Kate Lax has been promoted to director at Sheffield’s Wake Smith Solicitors.
Lax (pictured, right) joined the firm in 2013 and works in the six-strong medical negligence team. She represents clients from all over the country in a variety of claims covering all aspects of medical negligence, including claims concerning birth injuries, surgical errors, dental negligence, misdiagnosis and delayed diagnosis.
She joins fellow directors Terry Regan, John Vallance and Scott Haslam in the busy department at Wake Smith.
Lax, who was promoted to an associate in 2019, said: “I’m absolutely delighted to have become a director at Wake Smith.”
“I am proud to have reached this milestone with the firm and I very much look forward to contributing more towards its continued success.”
John Baddeley (pictured, left), chairman at Wake Smith, said: “I would like to congratulate Kate on her promotion, which is very well deserved and a testament to her hard work and dedication to the firm. I have no doubt Kate will continue to input further into the firm and provide a first class service to our clients.”
Lax graduated from Sheffield Hallam University with a law and criminology degree in 2005 and then went on to complete her legal practice course at Nottingham Trent University in 2008.
She has specialised in personal injury and medical negligence since 2007 and qualified as a solicitor in 2013 at a Manchester-based firm.
Her main areas of work include providing assistance to clients going through the NHS complaints procedure; matters involving birth injuries; cases of misdiagnosis and delay in diagnosis; informed consent cases; claims against GPs, hospitals and care homes; cosmetic surgery claims; fatal cases and dependency claims; and high value personal injury claims, including road traffic accidents and accidents at work.
