Thrive Law appoints Omar Akram as Chief Operating Officer as the firm enters its next chapter of growth

Thrive Law, the award-winning Leeds employment law firm built around wellbeing, mental health and neurodiversity, has appointed Omar Akram as Chief Operating Officer.

Omar joins on a part-time basis. He will lead the firm’s operations as it scales, strengthening its systems, processes and infrastructure so that Thrive Law can keep growing without losing the culture it is known for.

The appointment marks a new chapter for the firm and its founder. With Omar in place, Founder and Managing Partner Jodie Hill can focus more of her time on clients, on developing the team and on her work championing neuroinclusion and psychological safety at work.

A familiar face

Omar knows Thrive Law well. As a former client, he saw first-hand the firm’s lawyer-led, human-centred approach and its commitment to workplace equality, mental health and neurodiversity. He joins after a three-month sabbatical, taking on a role that brings him into a team and a mission he has respected for years.

Growing the team

Omar’s appointment is part of Thrive Law’s plans to grow and scale the firm over the next few years. The firm is always open to hearing from lawyers who share its values and are looking for a new chapter in their career. Thrive Law has no billable hours targets, and every team member shapes how they work best through the firm’s Licence to Thrive framework. Lawyers interested in joining can contact Jodie or Omar in confidence.

Jodie Hill, Founder and Managing Partner of Thrive Law, said:

“I’ve known Omar for many years and have always admired the way he leads. When he agreed to join us as COO I was absolutely buzzing. He’s exactly what we need to take Thrive Law to the next stage of growth while protecting the culture that makes us who we are.

This is a new chapter for the firm and for me. Growth for us has always been about people, and if you’re a lawyer who shares our values and is ready for your own next chapter, I’d love to have a confidential chat.”

Omar Akram, Chief Operating Officer, said:

“I’m delighted to be joining Jodie and the incredibly talented Thrive Law team for the next stage of their growth. As a client, I saw the professionalism, care and quality of service they deliver. I’m looking forward to helping build the foundations that let the firm grow while staying true to its values.”
