Sheffield’s MD Law boosts Derbyshire grassroots cricket

Boutique firm MD Law has become a key sponsor of the progressive junior and senior sections of Holmesfield Cricket Club this season.

The Sheffield-based law firm will have its name emblazoned on the jerseys of the men’s, women’s and junior sides, which play in the Derbyshire County League, the Chesterfield & District Mid-Week Cricket League, and the North Derbyshire Youth Cricket League.

Matthew Dixon, founder and partner of MD Law, whose practice areas include insolvency, dispute resolution, construction and commercial transactions, said: “I am thrilled to announce the firm’s support of the club.”

“Supporting grassroots sport is so important and the club runs a very active junior section comprising of two U11 teams and two U13 teams. The club hopes to develop this further in the seasons going forward.”

“We are always keen to help the community, especially in youth activities, and encourage increased participation and involvement in sport. This is a perfect partnership for us.”

Holmesfield’s players will have MD Law-branded kit for this season and there will be advertising at the ground.

The club provides cricket for two Saturday senior men’s adult teams, a mid-week team, a women’s side and has a great reputation for youth cricket. It also runs an ECB All Stars Cricket programme for 5 to 8 year olds, which attracts up to 60 children every Friday night to the ground at Cordwell Lane.

It also has mid-week and Sunday friendly teams and enters the National Village Cup each year.

Tommy Pearson, president of Holmesfield Cricket Club, said: “MD Law has generously linked up with Holmesfield Cricket Club in 2021 as their sponsor which has enabled the club to invest in branded kit for the senior and junior sides and ultimately, invest in the future of the club. We are very appreciative of their support.”
