Mills & Reeve makes senior hire to Leeds insurance disputes team

Mills & Reeve strengthens its Leeds insurance disputes team with the return of experienced lawyer Laura Johnson.

National law firm Mills & Reeve has expanded its Leeds insurance disputes team with the appointment of Laura Johnson as a principal associate. Laura brings extensive experience in managing complex, high-value professional negligence claims, particularly in the construction sector.

Laura specialises in defending claims against professionals, including architects, engineers, and design and build contractors. In addition to her expertise in the construction sector, she also handles claims against lawyers and professionals in the financial sector.

Her appointment marks a return to Mills & Reeve, where she previously spent more than 11 years before joining DAC Beachcroft in 2022 as a senior associate. Her wealth of experience and familiarity with the firm further strengthens the team’s capabilities in handling complex disputes.

The Leeds insurance disputes team has grown significantly in recent years and is recognised as one of the leading professional indemnity defence practices in the region. The team has built a strong reputation for managing large, intricate claims and representing professionals across multiple sectors, including law, construction, accountancy, insurance brokerage, insolvency, and life sciences/technology.

Neil Howes, partner and head of Mills & Reeve’s insurance disputes team in Leeds, commented, “We are thrilled to welcome Laura back to the team. She is an excellent lawyer with an outstanding reputation for advising on high-value and complex disputes, and she will be a superb addition to our growing team.”
