Yorkshire Legal News Editor-in-Chief moves to Thrive Law

Mark Dugdale, former Editor-in-Chief of Yorkshire Legal News, has transitioned into a new role as the Marketing Manager at boutique law firm Thrive Law. He joins Millie Creber, Executive Assistant to Founder and Managing Partner Jodie Hill, as a new addition to the firm.

Leeds-based Thrive Law stated that the appointments are designed to help the firm on its journey as it approaches six years in operation.

New appointments

Creber has supported C-suite executives for more than 10 years and will bring this extensive experience to bear in organising Jodie and the wider team, while helping them focus on a growing list of employer and employee clients, both in Yorkshire and nationally.

Meanwhile, with a background in journalism, Dugdale’s tenure as Editor-in-Chief at Yorkshire Legal News has been marked by his steadfast commitment to delivering insightful legal news and analysis to the local community. Dugdale wrote for the publication for close to six years. He also played a key role in the promotion and smooth operation of the annual Yorkshire Legal Awards, including presenting numerous awards and delivering speeches.

With a keen eye for detail and a nose for a good story, his writing style has resonated with busy readers in the Yorkshire legal community and beyond who prefer content that is both informative and accessible. Dugdale is therefore uniquely placed to manage and focus Thrive’s marketing strategy in a way that will support the firm’s continued growth.

Dugdale is thrilled to be working for a business that is heavily focused on its people and practices progressive values.

Commenting on the new appointments at Thrive, Jodie said: “I’m thrilled that Millie and Mark have joined us at Thrive.

“The appointment of two non-fee earners is a big deal for us. Their support will take us to the next level while freeing up some of the team to take on more work and responsibility.”

Jodie added: “When selecting people for these roles, it was vital that they aligned with our values. Millie and Mark are excellent fits and have hit the ground running. We can’t wait to see what they help us achieve.”

Dugdale said: “I’m delighted to join Thrive—the brand embodies progressive values that businesses of every kind can benefit from. And the entire team lives and breathes them—while working incredibly hard for a growing list of clients.

“I intend to serve as a guardian of this powerful brand while helping Jodie and the team grow a business that isn’t yet six years old. We’ve also got some exciting things planned that I can’t talk about just yet, except to say that any employment law solicitors and trainees might want to keep the evening of 3 October free for a certain book launch in Leeds.”

About Thrive Law

For Creber, a particular attraction of the role was the opportunity to work for a business that is making a real difference to others, especially in ED&I, mental health and wellbeing. Launched in 2018, the award-winning law firm provides HR and employment law services to employers and employees. A focus on ED&I, mental health, wellbeing and neurodiversity underpins its mission to ensure everyone can thrive in the workplace.

The SRA-regulated law firm is an experienced advocate, able to provide advice on the full range of employment law issues, including TUPE; whistleblowing; consultancy agreements; unfair dismissal and constructive unfair dismissal; discrimination; settlement agreements; contracts of employment; and Employment Tribunals.

Thrive Law was recently shortlisted for the Law Firm of the Year: Small category at the Yorkshire Legal Awards 2023. While Dugdale was instrumental in the marketing of the event, he has not been involved in judging entries.

The Yorkshire Legal News editorial team hopes that Mark is thriving in his new role.
