Leigh Day tackle 3 Peak challenge to support Day One Trauma

Despite battling tough weather conditions, the Leigh Day team raised £1,391 for Day One Trauma.

As part of their commitment to supporting those affected by major physical trauma, Leigh Day participated in the Yorkshire 3 Peaks Challenge to raise funds for Day One Trauma.

Day One Trauma is a charitable organisation dedicated to assisting individuals affected by major physical trauma in rebuilding their lives. This aligns with the work of many personal injury solicitors, including those at Leigh Day.

As part of its fundraising efforts, Day One Trauma organised a Yorkshire 3 Peaks Challenge in June. The event involved climbing Pen-y-ghent, Whernside, and Ingleborough within 12 hours, covering a 40 km circuit with over 5,000 feet of ascent.

Despite challenging weather conditions, including heavy rain and poor visibility, participants remained committed to completing the challenge. The group faced arduous climbs and treacherous descents, demonstrating exceptional determination and teamwork.

The event concluded with participants returning to Horton-in-Ribblesdale, where they were greeted with refreshments. The Leigh Day team successfully raised £1,391 for the cause.

Gratitude is extended to Day One Trauma and Overlimits for organising this significant event, and to all the personal injury solicitors and barristers who participated.

Bethany Sanders, head of Leigh Day’s Leeds office said, “Taking part in the Yorkshire 3 Peaks Challenge was an incredible experience for our team. It was not just about reaching the finish line, but about supporting an organisation providing essential services to those who have suffered major trauma. We are proud to support Day One Trauma’s mission and to help raise funds for their invaluable work.”

About Day One

There are approximately 20,000 major trauma cases in England and Wales each year. Since the introduction of Major Trauma Centres to the NHS in 2014, patient care and clinical outcomes have significantly improved. However, a gap remained between medical treatment and addressing the broader impacts of life-changing injuries. Day One Trauma was established to address this gap by providing a range of services to patients of Major Trauma Centres, including benefits and welfare advice, peer support, and referrals to legal and other services. Leigh Day is one of Day One Trauma’s panel legal firms.

Leigh Day are a sponsor of the Yorkshire Legal Awards 2024.
