Recognised by The Sunday Times as one of the best places to work in the UK for 2025, national law firm, Clarion, is continuing to cement itself as one of the best incubators of young legal talent in the North. The firm has retained seven newly qualified solicitors, as well as making four additional external offers across the business.
The newly qualified team members include Ben Hockenhull and Anna Moore, who will both join the Commercial Property Team.
Niamh Burke will be taking up a position in the Private Wealth team, having joined Clarion in January 2022 and starting her training contract at the firm in September 2023.
The Intellectual Property Team has welcomed Sina Gertsch while William Froud joins the Corporate Team.
Hayley Renton, who joined Clarion as a Paralegal in the Commercial Property team in March 2021 and began her training contract in September 2023, will be joining the Employment Team.
The firm has also made an additional newly qualified offer to Clara Hunt, who will be joining the Commercial Dispute Resolution team.
Clarion’s trainee programme has a high level of retention, and the programme is designed to train solicitors to do more than just gain the qualification. All trainees are given the opportunity to gain experience of the firm’s business development and self-development activities. Its well-established and respected training programme has been instrumental in helping so many young talented individuals complete their training contracts and qualify.
Clarion also supports young people with a variety of other routes to entering the legal profession through an apprenticeship programme, paralegal development, work experience opportunities and via external and internal mentoring and coaching initiatives. The single-site Leeds-based law firm, recognised in The Lawyer, Legal 500 and ranked nationally in Chambers, supports a range of corporate and private clients both nationally and internationally and now employs more than 300 employees.
Helen Saunders, People Director said: “We’re delighted to retain these seven talented individuals as newly qualified solicitors within the business.
“We had 11 newly qualified roles available across the firm and have made four additional external offers in our Banking team, Corporate team and Employment team, with colleagues joining through September. This demonstrates our commitment to providing excellent opportunities for emerging legal talent.
“This year’s cohort has shown enthusiasm, skill and entrepreneurial mindsets, all the key qualities we look for in a Clarion team member.
“Nurturing emerging talent not only sits at the heart of our growth strategy but also reflects the wealth of legal talent in our region. We are committed to supporting their professional growth and career aspirations and look forward to seeing them continue to flourish at Clarion.”
