Leeds-based lawyers facilitate Assisi Pet Care Group’s partnership

Leeds-based lawyers and financial advisors have played a vital role in facilitating a recent partnership between Assisi Pet Care Group and Wind Point Partners. Yorkshire-based entrepreneur Peter Mangion, the CEO of Assisi Pet Care Group, a premium pet food and treats producer, has joined forces with Wind Point Partners, a Chicago-based private equity firm.

Assisi Pet Care Group, headquartered in Melton Mowbray, is known for its premium pet products, which are distributed throughout the UK and Europe. The company’s two natural treat production facilities in Poland are integral to its operations. It serves a range of customers in grocery, e-commerce, and pet specialty sectors with both branded and private label products. Founded in 2020, Assisi was established to acquire and grow leading pet food and treat companies with established reputations.

A team of Leeds-based advisors, including Jonathan Simms, Hitesh Tailor, Tony Berry, and Isabelle Hammond of Clarion for legal advice, Richard Firth and Daniel Swanwick of Park Place Corporate Finance for corporate finance advice, and Russ Cahill of Tax Advisory Partnership for tax advice, played a crucial role in guiding Assisi through its acquisitions.

Peter Mangion stated; “Assisi has been on a tremendous journey since its inception in 2020, which is a testament to the strength and quality of our people, our customer and supplier relationships and the rich heritage of our brands and products. Wind Point and I have worked closely together for numerous years. Our shared focus on investing in our people and expanding our capabilities makes them the ideal partner for Assisi.”

Reed Smith LLP served as legal counsel to Wind Point, and KPMG LLP provided transaction advisory services, contributing to the success of this significant partnership.

The partnership between Assisi Pet Care Group and Wind Point Partners demonstrates their potential for further growth in the European pet care industry, with Leeds-based advisors playing a pivotal role in making this partnership a reality.
