Leeds among top UK cities for divorce lawyer searches

New research has revealed that Leeds is among the top five UK cities searching for divorce lawyers, highlighting a significant demand for family law services in Yorkshire.

Leeds ranked fourth in the study, with 567 searches for divorce solicitors made on average each month. This places Leeds ahead of many other major UK cities; with a population of just over half a million, this translates to 106 searches per 100,000 people.

Leeds among the most active in divorce-related searches

Oxford topped the rankings with the highest concentration of searches per capita, followed by Edinburgh and Worcester. Leeds was the only Yorkshire city to make the top five. York also appeared in the rankings, coming in ninth.

The study, conducted by family law firm Reiss Edwards, analysed Google search data on over 350 keywords related to divorce lawyers and solicitors. The data was then compared to the populations of UK towns and cities to determine which areas had the highest number of searches per 100,000 people.

Yorkshire’s divorce landscape

The significant number of searches for divorce solicitors in Leeds and York suggests that many people in Yorkshire are turning to online resources to seek legal guidance. Economic pressures, relationship challenges, and demographic trends could all be factors contributing to the high demand for family law services in the region.

Commenting on the findings, Amar Ali, managing director of Reiss Edwards, commented, “While large cities like Birmingham have the highest number of total searches, Leeds and York’s rankings suggest that Yorkshire has a particularly high need for family law support.”

As online searches for divorce solicitors continue to rise, the findings highlight the importance of accessible family law services in Yorkshire. With Leeds leading the way, legal professionals in the region may need to consider expanding their services to meet the growing demand.
