Langleys Solicitors strengthens insurance practice in York

York-based Langleys Solicitors has appointed Matthew Liston to its insurance practice.

Liston joins the team as a partner, undertaking professional liability defence work on behalf of the firm’s insurance practice. He will lead the professional liability area of the business as Langleys adds another specialism to its legal offering.

Previously a principal associate with Mills & Reeve in Leeds, Liston regularly deals with claims involving complex legal and strategic issues.

He was a founding member of the professional liability disputes team at his previous firm. He also writes and delivers training on professional indemnity insurance topics, and is a member of the Chartered Insurance Institute.

Commenting on his appointment, Liston said: “Langleys has a fantastic and growing national reputation particularly in the London insurance market. I am very pleased to be joining the team at this time. We have strong ambitions to grow the professional liability side of the business and there are significant opportunities to be explored in the coming months. I’m excited to get started and bring our professional liability services into line with our other outstanding specialist areas.”

David Thompson, head of insurance law at Langleys, said: “We are pleased to welcome Matthew to the insurance practice which adds another new line of business to the firm for new and existing clients.”

“This additional expertise will complement our already thriving insurance practice, and we aim to replicate the level of success of other parts of the business with this new liability offering. In Matthew we have the perfect mix of experience and an outstanding legal professional.”
