hlw Keeble Hawson workshop to equip trustees with insights into good governance

hlw Keeble Hawson will host a morning workshop in Leeds on 14 February to advise charity board trustees on good governance.

The free Good Governance Workshop, held at the firm’s offices in conjunction with the Small Charities Coalition, will examine the role of trustees in good governance and cover three key themes – the makeup of a board of trustees; trustee responsibilities; and choosing the right charitable structure.

The session will be led by hlw Keeble Hawson partner and charity expert, Michele Todd (pictured below). A legal trustee of Weston Park Hospital Cancer Charity from 2010-2015, Todd is also a board member of independent residential care home, Taptonholme.

Todd said: “As charities face increasing scrutiny, ensuring effective governance has taken on an unprecedented importance for trustees. Our workshop will enhance their understanding of whether they are eligible to be on the board, what is expected of them, legal compliance – and the possible personal liabilities of getting it wrong.”

The workshop runs from 8:30am-11am, with breakfast available before the 9:00am start and a questions and answer session.
