HLK welcomes second new partner to its legal team in a month

HLK has appointed Louise Perkin (née Handley) as a partner in Leeds.

Perkin has brought a team of experts with her to HLK and her appointment follows the arrival of Jamie Rowlands in June.

Acting for a diverse range of clients from startups and SMEs to PLCs and universities, Perkin specialises in non-contentious intellectual property work. For more than 25 years, she has assisted clients in commercial/IP transactions.

Perkin, who has been a leading figure in the Leeds marketplace for many years, gained significant experience at several leading national and international firms.

She regularly drafts and negotiates complex IP, IT and commercial agreements, including licensing deals and assignments, as well as agreements covering R&D, SaaS, T&Cs, supply, distribution and agency.

Commenting on her appointment at HLK, Perkin said: “When the opportunity to be part of Leeds’ leading IP firm at HLK came my way, I jumped at the chance. The calibre of people at HLK, as well as the market leading work that they do, was a decisive factor in my decision to join them”.

Richard Kempner, partner and head of the legal team at HLK, added: “I’ve known Louise for more than 25 years and have always held her in the highest regard as a lawyer, advisor and someone who really cares about her clients’ success—and in many cases she has helped make that happen for them. We are truly delighted that she has chosen to join us to bolster our non-contentious IP services and enhance our client offering accordingly.”
