The organisers of this year’s York Legal Walk have thanked a team of walkers from York law firm Hethertons Solicitors, after they raised more than £570—the largest single donation of any team.
The group of 11 volunteers, including solicitors and other staff from Hethertons, not only raised the most but was the largest team to take part in the 10km challenge, which saw legal professionals from across the city raise money for Yorkshire Legal Support Trust—a provider of free local legal advice.
So far, the walk has managed to raise £1,414, which will go directly to supporting the provision of free legal advice for those most in need in the local community.
Barbara Stephens, head of the private client department at Hethertons and one of the volunteers that took part, said: “We were really excited to learn that thanks to our hard work fundraising we have managed to raise so much for this wonderful cause.”
“I would encourage the local community and my fellow legal professionals to get behind this cause so that more people can benefit from the expertise of the Yorkshire Legal Support Trust.”
The Hethertons team of walkers included Barbara Stephens Simon Crack, Jessica Roberts, Lucy Martindale, Lucy Wardle, Yvonne Macdonald, Katie Westmorland, Joe Schofield, Helen Grainger, Laura Foster and Amber Khanna.
