The firm, which has exhibited consistent growth since its inception, aims to double its legal team by 2025. They are also aiming to achieve a turnover of £20 million by the fiscal year 2026, relying solely on organic growth.
Established with a unique model involving senior remote-working lawyers and subscription plans, Harper James has grown to a team of 113 professionals, providing support to over 4,400 businesses. The firm’s success is often attributed to its distinctive culture, marked by a commitment to work-life balance and a vision of a world where all viable businesses thrive.
To preserve its unique culture during rapid expansion, the firm embarked on a collaborative project, resulting in the creation of a ‘Guidebook to working at Harper James.’ A firm-wide survey revealed unanimous agreement among respondents that the identified values strongly resonated with them.
The seven core values shaping the firm’s culture include practicing flexibility without judgment, fostering trust and support, maintaining a relaxed yet organised atmosphere, eschewing office politics, promoting humility, encouraging open communication, and making decisions with compassion, integrity, and responsibility.
Commenting on the firm’s growth and values, founder & CEO Toby Harper emphasised the importance of achieving financial strength, especially in uncertain times. Harper expressed his commitment to maintaining a flexible and politics-free working environment, highlighting the positive impact on the firm’s interactions with both employees and clients.
