Pankaj Madan from Exchange Chambers in Leeds has secured a settlement of £9.25 million for a catastrophically injured young man.
The claimant was involved in a serious road traffic accident at the age of 13, leaving him with a range of life changing injuries, including catastrophic brain injury.
In a long-running, sensitive and complex case, interim payments covered the cost of highly-effective rehabilitation and care, including a place at TRU, a specialist acquired brain injury rehabilitation facility that operates within residential units and community outreach to provide a full pathway of active rehabilitation, pre-community re-entry, supported living and community re-integration.
Utilising extensive expert evidence, Madan (led by Will Waldron QC) has now settled the case for £9.25 million on a lump sum basis.
With the claimant lacking capacity as a result of his injuries, the court approved the settlement, saying that in the particular and unique circumstances of the case, it represented the best outcome for the claimant.
