It’s a big year for Crockett & Co: the firm is celebrating both 30 years at their current location, and numerous shortlisted entries at the Yorkshire Legal Awards.
Crockett & Co is marking the remarkable achievement of Helen Crockett, who has been shortlisted for Yorkshire Lawyer of the Year in the prestigious Yorkshire Legal Awards for the fifth consecutive year. The firm has also secured a spot as a finalist for the coveted Small Firm of the Year award. This recognition is, in part, attributed to the firm’s exceptional community engagement.
Crockett & Co are also commemorating their 30-year milestone at their offices in Harehills this year, having moved into their current premises from Park Square, Leeds back in 1993.
Giving back
In honour of these achievements and in the spirit of giving back, the Crockett & Co team has unveiled a new initiative: ‘30 Acts of Kindness for the Community’. One of the standout charitable endeavours includes a sponsored abseil down the Cow and Calf in Ilkley.
The Cow and Calf, as they are affectionately known, are two rocky formations sitting atop the Ilkley moors approximately 1,320ft (402m) above sea level. Scheduled for Saturday 23 September 2023, volunteers will abseil the approximate 50ft (15m) drop from the top of the rocks to the bottom.
This daring feat aims to raise funds for three remarkable local charities that play a vital role in supporting both the firm’s clients and the broader community: Leeds Women’s Aid, Zarach, and Leeds Involving People.
Helen Crockett, Director of Crockett & Co, said: “We serve the community, as we do our staff, and think that it is evident in everything we do.”
She added: “Shortly after setting up Crockett & Co in 1991, I realised that we needed to be closer to our disadvantaged and diverse client base, hence the move to the Harehills premises in September 1993, where we are a significant presence and see ourselves as a sanctuary for our vulnerable clients.
We have made caring for the local community at the heart of what we do, and I am so pleased about being shortlisted for the fifth year running for the Yorkshire Lawyer of the Year Award, and for the staff being recognised by the firm being shortlisted for the Small Firm of the Year Award this year. We see the team as one big family!
We are also dedicated to our pledge of 30 Acts of Kindness throughout the next year and have already made a start on these, including purchasing a fridge freezer for someone in the local community. We are also putting together 30 wellness packs for the Leeds Street Angels, to give out to the homeless community. We are also liaising with the Harehills Action Team, in relation to specific acts to benefit the local community.”
This remarkable initiative not only underscores Crockett & Co’s commitment to excellence in the legal field but also exemplifies their dedication to making a meaningful impact within their community. As the team prepares to take on the thrilling abseil challenge, they do so with the collective hope of raising funds and awareness for these invaluable local charities.
