Leeds-based Blacks Solicitors has announced the launch of a new trademark protection service.
The service, designed to help businesses in Yorkshire and beyond protect their brands from potential infringement, reflects growing market demand for brand safeguarding amidst a rising number of trademark applications and increasing competition.
Blacks will offer businesses proactive monitoring for similar or identical trademark registrations, aiming to provide clients with peace of mind that their brand identities are shielded from unauthorised usage.
The addition enhances Blacks’ Intellectual Property (IP) team’s existing offerings, making it easier for businesses to protect their names, logos, and slogans.
Recent figures have shown a surge in UK trademark applications, with over 163,000 submissions made last year. According to Pete Konieczko-Hansom (pictured), legal director and head of commercial law at Blacks Solicitors, this increase in applications signals that businesses should adopt pre-emptive measures to secure their brand equity in a highly competitive marketplace.
The new service uses specialist software to monitor listings and send alerts for similar or conflicting trademarks.
“Protecting your brand is key in today’s marketplace, and it’s not enough to rely on the IPO (Intellectual Property Office) to flag potential issues,” said Konieczko-Hansom. “Our new trademark protection service ensures clients don’t have to worry about similar or potentially damaging trademarks slipping through unnoticed. We’ve developed this service to allow our clients to focus on business growth, confident that their brands are being properly safeguarded.”
Blacks Solicitors’ IP team includes seasoned experts with over four decades of experience in the field, including Konieczko-Hansom, senior associate Yat Wong, and solicitors Beth Brindley and Daisy Jackman.
