The corporate & commercial team at Blacks Solicitors has witnessed a significant increase in growth over the last year, with revenue climbing by 36% in its 2015/2016 financial year.
The team has now doubled both in terms of turnover and headcount since 2014. The impressive figures for the last financial year were boosted by the team securing and completing numerous deals during the last year with a cumulative value in excess of £250 million, including Comms-Care’s sale to Fortune 500 listed Ingram Micro, Hague Print’s acquisition of SRPM, the sale of both Paul MacArthur Limited and IML Labels & Systems Limited.
David Paterson, a partner at Blacks, said: “The corporate & commercial team is full of first class legal talent who live and breathe the firm’s dedication to providing the best service we can to our clients.
“We’re seeing a lot of activity, in particular in the financial services sector, the manufacturing sector and the information technology sector, and 2017 promises to be another really strong year for us in terms of the quality of the deals we are working on.
“We’ve also seen an influx of foreign investment backed deals, interestingly both pre and post Brexit, such investment having particular focus on investment from the US and China, and we are currently working on several sizeable foreign investment backed deals.
“We have also undertaken several substantial corporate restructures for student property let companies in the last 12 months.”
In response to the influx of new business, the corporate & commercial team has taken on a number of new staff, while promoting Richard Buono to partner and Saby Sambhi to associate solicitor, and paralegal Alex Hall, who began her career at Blacks as a legal secretary in 2011 will soon be qualifying as a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Legal Executives.
Chris Allen, managing partner at Blacks, said: “This is a fantastic result for the corporate and commercial team, and is testament to their hard work, dedication, and commitment.
“I am delighted that the team continues to grow from strength to strength. It’s great to see our staff developing and progressing within the business.
“2016 was a great year for Blacks and 2017 looks to be even more exciting.”
