The highly anticipated shortlist for the 2024 Yorkshire Legal Awards has been announced, showcasing the region’s top legal professionals and firms.
Now in its 25th year, the awards highlight the talent, expertise, and innovation within Yorkshire’s legal sector.
This year’s finalists span a broad spectrum, from emerging talent to established leaders, across various categories including Law Firm of the Year, In-House Team of the Year, and Rising Star. The shortlist also features nominees excelling in fields such as family law, criminal law, and private client work.
One of the most competitive categories, Law Firm of the Year: Large, sees prominent names such as Bevan Brittan, Mills & Reeve, Switalskis, and Ward Hadaway LLP battling for the title. The Rising Star category, which recognises emerging talent in the industry, showcases several up-and-coming professionals from firms including Weightmans, DLA Piper, and AWB Charlesworth already making significant impacts in their careers.
The awards, judged by a panel of leading figures including presidents and leaders from law societies across Yorkshire; Jason Pitter KC who leads the North Eastern Circuit; Louisa Soper who is co-chair of the Yorkshire Pro Bono Committee; and Sarah Khan Bashir, who won the Yorkshire Lawyer of the Year award in 2023.
A spokesperson for the event stated, “The quality of submissions this year is exceptional, and selecting the shortlist was no easy task for our independent judging panel. The shortlisted nominees represent the very best of Yorkshire’s legal talent.”
Winners will be announced at a black-tie awards ceremony on Thursday 10 October 2024, with celebrations taking place at the FirstDirect Arena for the first time.
