Rollits welcomes planning law specialist

A specialist planning solicitor who has built up more than 10 years of experience in the public and private sectors has joined the team at Rollits.

Stuart Lumb (pictured), who previously worked with Knights, took his first post at Newcastle City Council in 2010, after completing his law degree at the University of Sheffield and a legal practice course at Northumbria University, as well as a training contract at Gateshead Council.

He served as a planning solicitor at Calderdale Council from 2012 until 2014 and then spent nearly two years as a senior planning solicitor with Barnsley Metropolitan Borough Council.

Lumb, who lives in Leeds, joined Shulmans in November 2015. He stayed with the firm after its acquisition last year by Knights.

He joins Rollits as an associate and will work from the firm’s offices in York and Hull.

Lumb brings significant experience in a wide range of development issues to the firm, including planning agreements, judicial review, planning enforcement, proposed lawful development and planning policy.

Ralph Gilbert, managing partner at Rollits, said of Lumb’s appointment: “Stuart is an excellent addition to our team with the specialist knowledge of planning and development, highways and rights of way which he has built up during his career with local authorities and major firms.”

“His experience advising landowners, developers, investors, lenders and housebuilders is a good fit with our varied caseload and client base.”
