Paul Joyce bids farewell after 40 years of leadership, paving the way for Ramsdens’ next chapter
Leading regional law firm Ramsdens Solicitors has announced the retirement of Paul Joyce, its long-serving managing partner, after an esteemed 40-year career with the firm.
Paul joined Ramsdens in 1985 and quickly rose through the ranks, becoming the firm’s youngest partner at the age of 25 before being appointed managing partner in 1997. Over the past 28 years, he has played a pivotal role in the firm’s strategic growth, transforming Ramsdens from a single-office practice with a turnover below £1 million into one of Yorkshire’s premier regional law firms. Today, Ramsdens operates across North and West Yorkshire with 11 offices, 42 partners, 250 team members, and an annual revenue exceeding £25 million.
During his tenure, Paul spearheaded the firm’s conversion to an LLP and guided Ramsdens through its milestone 150th anniversary in 2020. His leadership has solidified the firm’s reputation for excellence and innovation in legal services.
Reflecting on his career, Paul said, “It has been a privilege to lead Ramsdens for so many years and witness its transformation into a true regional powerhouse. I am incredibly proud of the talented and dedicated team that will continue to drive the firm forward, and I look forward to seeing its continued success in the years ahead.”
Ramsdens has been preparing for this leadership transition for over a year to ensure a seamless handover. The firm’s new executive leadership team will be led by joint chief executives Lindsey Frith and Lee Townsend, with Joanne Coen as senior partner and David Bradley as chairman.
