The Legal 500 UK 2027 rankings are now live following extensive research throughout the course of 2026. Researchers have conducted hundreds of interviews and assessed thousands of submissions to complete this year’s coverage which includes more than 10,000 rankings for firms, as well as almost 13,000 individually ranked lawyers.
2026 has been a year of major change for the Legal 500, which has rolled out a new submission portal, tools to allow firms greater insight into the research process, and a suite of data analytics products, including the Client Experience Index, to help firms drill into their market perception and expand their client strategies.
The past year was a steady one in Yorkshire, with commercial activity particularly strong in innovative industries such as fintech and life sciences, as well as AI, all of which have drawn significant interest from private equity groups and other investors. The real estate market has had a correspondingly healthy year, with commercial hubs such as Leeds seeing significant activity in the residential sector, even as commercial real estate projects face more significant economic headwinds.
There are more than 110 firms featured in the Yorkshire coverage, with prominent regional powerhouses such as Walker Morris placing alongside national firms like Pinsent Masons, as well as teams including Eversheds Sutherland and DLA Piper which maintain offices worldwide. The region’s firms have accumulated a total of almost 600 rankings across Yorkshire, which particularly focus on the Leeds, Sheffield and Hull legal markets.
DLA Piper and Addleshaw Goddard hold the most rankings in the new edition, both having obtained 24 rankings in total. Walker Morris follows with 23 rankings in total, and is in turn followed by Pinsent Masons, which holds 19 rankings, and Eversheds Sutherland and Irwin Mitchell, with 17 each.
Almost 600 individual lawyers have achieved rankings across Yorkshire, split into the Hall of Fame, Leading Partner, Next Generation Partner, and Leading Associate categories. Addleshaw Goddard is the firm with the highest number of ranked individuals, with 50, followed closely by Walker Morris which has 49, Pinsent Masons with 38, and DLA Piper with 36.
