Leading employee-owned law firm Ison Harrison has extended its reach into South Yorkshire with the launch of a new, fully staffed branch in Penistone.
The opening marks the 25th office for the expanding regional firm and its second new location of the year, following the recent establishment of a city centre hub in Bradford.
The move into Penistone signals a strategic expansion for the firm, which has traditionally held a dominant presence across West and North Yorkshire. The new office, located at 1 Crown House on Market Street, occupies a prominent two-story building steeped in local history. Formerly known as the Rose and Crown pub, the site operated as a bustling coaching inn from around 1749, serving as a historic meeting point for travelers and traders in a town that dates back to the Domesday Book of 1066.
The expansion follows a period of significant growth for Ison Harrison. Since transitioning to a 100% employee-owned business model in 2022, the firm has nearly doubled its turnover, with revenues surpassing £35 million for 2025.
Headed by branch manager and experienced conveyancer Lyndsay Clark, the Penistone office will provide a comprehensive range of legal services. The dedicated on-site team includes a specialist conveyancing department featuring Emma Burnham, Susie Hutton, Amanda Eastwood, and Alicia Eastwood. The wills and probate division will be helmed by executive Antony Exley and paralegal Charlie Forrest, while solicitor Holly Dawson will manage commercial property matters. Additionally, family law specialists Loreena Walker and Abbie Churchill will provide dedicated support on an appointment-only basis, including free initial telephone consultations.
Lyndsay Clark, newly appointed branch manager at the Penistone office, commented: “My team and I joined Ison Harrison earlier in the year with a view to opening and running a new Penistone office and we were delighted when we were able to secure such a prominent office on Market Street. Having worked as a conveyancer in the town for many years I am confident that we will be able to provide immediate, high-quality legal support to a community we know exceptionally well.”
Jonathan Wearing, managing director of Ison Harrison, added: “Our strategic expansion across Yorkshire has been driven entirely by client demand. Strengthening our presence in South Yorkshire via Penistone is a natural next step for us following our sustained growth in West and North Yorkshire over recent years.
“When the opportunity arose to secure an excellent historic building and, more importantly, a highly skilled team of local legal professionals who already have deep roots in the town, it was an easy decision. Our employee-ownership model continues to foster a culture of shared success and client-focused growth, and we look forward to becoming an integral part of the Penistone community.”
The Penistone branch is fully equipped with on-site parking at the rear of the building and features complete disabled access to its downstairs meeting areas.
Ison Harrison now employs more than 450 staff across Yorkshire, offering the broadest range of legal services in the region. The firm holds over 13 Law Society accreditations, including Lexcel, Clinical Negligence, Family Law, Immigration & Asylum, Conveyancing Quality, and SRA Higher Courts Rights – civil and criminal.
Ison Harrison is proud to be 100% employee-owned and has just been voted as one of the Best Places to Work 2026 by The Sunday Times.
