Crombie Wilkinson Solicitors and Ellis Lakin combine

Crombie Wilkinson Solicitors and Ellis Lakin & Co have combined their firms.

Both are established and long-standing law practices in Ryedale and North Yorkshire, providing legal services to individuals, businesses and the farming industry.

In Pickering, the new firm will be known as Crombie Wilkinson Ellis Lakin Solicitors, with John Ellis, Lisa Turner, Helen Skaife and the team continuing to serve clients.

The team will enhance what they offer with additional specialist expertise in the form of family law and mediation, dispute resolution, employment and business law advice.

A broader range of services for the agricultural community in and around Pickering will also become available with support from the wider agricultural team. Crombie Wilkinson Solicitors is an NFU Legal Panel member for the northeast region.

Jessica Appleby, senior associate solicitor, who specialises in wills, property and agricultural law, will move from the Malton office to join the team in Pickering. Greg Cross, solicitor and collaborative lawyer, will expand the family law advice service available in Pickering.

Jennifer Bartram, senior director and head of the agricultural team at Crombie Wilkinson Solicitors, said: “I am very pleased to welcome the partners and staff of Ellis Lakin as part of this firm. The Crombie Wilkinson team are pleased to assist them in expanding legal service provision to their clients in and around Pickering.”

“The firm will now employ a team of 110 lawyers and support staff across North Yorkshire to continue our provision of quality and specialist legal services in this region. It is our intention to continue to expand those legal services across the county.”

The firms came together through their shared values for delivering the best solution for their clients coupled with their joint passion for going above and beyond to provide exceptional service, according to Crombie Wilkinson Solicitors.

John Ellis said: “We are delighted to have combined our firm with Crombie Wilkinson Solicitors.”

“We will continue to look after our clients, providing them with excellent legal advice with a quality service and I look forward to the fact that we will be joined by Jessica and Greg who will help us expand the services we offer to our existing and new clients as well as the support we will receive from the rest of the staff who make up the team across the offices in York, Selby and Malton.”

“We are pleased to be working with businesses and individuals in the coming weeks and months as we develop our offering under the Crombie Wilkinson Ellis Lakin Solicitors name”.

The firm is also expanding through external recruitment to bring in key skills as well as continuing to invest in programmes to develop staff and their careers within the firm.

In November, Ian Barnard and Belinda-Jane Poulter joined as directors of the firm in Malton and York, respectively, after successfully completing its leadership and development programme.
