Clarion strengthens family law team with partner appointment

National law firm, Clarion, has announced the appointment of a new Partner, Maisie Huynh, who will be joining its Family Law team.

Maisie brings over a decade of experience in family and matrimonial law, supporting high-net-worth individuals and families on a range of issues across Yorkshire and the UK. She joins Clarion from Irwin Mitchell, where she spent more than 11 years developing a strong reputation for advising clients on complex financial matters arising from divorce and relationship breakdown.

Having worked primarily on matrimonial finances and wealth preservation, Maisie has a proven track record of advising clients on high-value financial disputes and is widely recognised for her strong technical ability and meticulous forensic approach. She specialises in complex financial cases involving business interests, trust assets and personal injury settlements, and is known for her strategic approach to litigation and strong client relationships.

Throughout her career, Maisie has played an active role in training and mentoring junior colleagues, supporting their technical development and progression and contributing to the continued growth and strength of the wider team. Maisie also brings with her a strong professional network, built through long‑standing client and referrer relationships, and has a proven track record of successfully generating new work.

Maisie has been consistently recognised in national legal directories, having been named a Rising Star and Leading Associate in The Legal 500 for several years as well as Associate to Watch in Chambers and Partners. She was also shortlisted for Private Client Rising Star at the Legal 500 Northern Powerhouse Awards 2024.

Her appointment will bring further expertise to a team that has already established a strong national reputation, ranking as Tier 1 in The Legal 500. The team at Clarion advises on a range of family matters, including Divorce and Civil Partnership Dissolution, pre and postnuptial agreements for High Net Worth and generational families, as well as financial settlements and dispute resolution on separation.

The Leeds-based firm supports a range of corporate and private clients both nationally and internationally. The appointment comes as Clarion continues its mission to create an entrepreneurial environment for the best legal talent across the region.

Speaking on her appointment, Maisie said: “Clarion has an outstanding reputation for the quality of its work and the strength of its culture. It has always been a firm I admired, and the opportunity to join a team that places such importance on both client care and supporting colleagues was incredibly appealing. I’m looking forward to working with the team to continue supporting clients through complex and often challenging situations.”

Roger Hutton, Joint Managing Partner at Clarion, said: “We’re really pleased to welcome Maisie to the team. The family team has worked hard to become nationally recognised for the trusted support, advice and expertise it offers its clients, and we’ve no doubt Maisie will help the team continue to grow from strength to strength as part of Clarion’s national growth strategy.”
