Bradford-based firm Williscroft & Co has formed a corporate partnership with the Yorkshire domestic abuse charity, IDAS.
IDAS provides support to anyone subjected to domestic abuse or sexual violence, through refuge accommodation, outreach services and a free, confidential helpline.
Its services include community-based support, peer mentoring, group work, emotional support and safety planning, and support through the criminal justice system.
There are parallels between the work of IDAS and Williscroft & Co, which provides legal advice to families and individuals in the Bradford and Keighley area.
The law firm specialises in complicated and challenging areas of family law, including child abduction, cohabitation/prenups, divorce and financial settlements, domestic violence, children’s issues, forced marriage protections, social services/care proceedings, wills and probate, inheritance claims, Court of Protection and powers of attorney.
Lucy Cohen, a director at Williscroft & Co alongside Steph Adams, commented: “We have made the decision to support IDAS as a corporate partner with a monthly donation as we really value the services that IDAS provide to the community.”
“In our work as family lawyers, we often meet people who are in need of further support and now our partnership enables us to go that one step further to supporting the services IDAS provide. We are looking forward to getting involved with some fundraising over the next few months”.
Sarah Hill, chief executive officer of IDAS, said: “The pandemic has been difficult for many, but for those living with a controlling or abusive partner there will have been little respite or relief. Since lockdown restrictions lifted, we have seen a surge in calls to our helplines and increased demand for our services, and we want to make sure that everyone who contacts us can get the support they so desperately need. To do this we need additional funds so that we can continue providing our vital, often lifesaving, services to victims and survivors of domestic abuse across Yorkshire.”
“We are grateful for the support of Williscroft & Co. Corporate partnerships provide a vital source of income, so that we can reach more people subjected to abuse and violence who desperately need our support. We hope this partnership encourages other businesses to follow suit.”
