Kempner & Partners has recruited trade mark heavyweight partner Matt Sammon from Marks & Clerk.
Sammon joins the Leeds-based firm from the UK’s biggest firm of patent and trade mark attorneys where he was head of UK trade marks.
Sammon specialises in providing world class trade mark advice to businesses of all sizes, by maintaining trade mark portfolios, identifying savings and making portfolio maintenance more efficient. His experience spans several sectors including the advertising and design sector where he regularly delivers training courses for marketing and branding teams to improve the capture and exploitation of their intellectual property.
He was singled out in the World Trademark Review 1000 2014, 2015 and 2016 guides and named an “IP Star” by Managing Intellectual Property in 2014, 2015 and 2016 editions. He was also recommended in the 2015 and 2016 editions of Legal 500, and listed as a “patent leader” by the World IP Review.
Commenting on his appointment, Sammon said: “I was attracted to Kempner & Partners because of their ever-growing list of stellar clients and straightforward approach, which is based on a desire to innovate and push to deliver a better and more rounded service, at a price that makes sense; and this matches my own ethos.
“Kempner & Partners do things differently and I am excited to become part of such a forward-thinking firm.
Kempner & Partners’ managing partner, Jason Dainty, said: “To maintain the very best levels of service and advice, we were very keen to ensure that we recruited a leader in the field and with a wealth of experience to match our own, in looking after of some of the best-known brands in the UK and the world. Matt is that guy and what struck us about him is that he shares our total enthusiasm for making a real difference to our clients’ businesses.”
Newly qualified solicitor Alice Chaplin and paralegal Kathryn Leake have also joined the specialist firm which represents organisations including ASDA, Farrow & Ball, JD Sports, Jet2.com and Regus.
“Alice and Kathryn compliment this growing team and are an excellent addition to junior staff who, with Matt, take our complement of legal professionals to 13,” added Dainty.
“We’ve enjoyed excellent growth in a year of recession and a stagnant market and are set to continue to buck the trend in the years to come.”
