AWB Charlesworth Solicitors have announced that Thomas Connell has qualified as a solicitor following his completion of a two-year training contract.
Thomas completed his degree in philosophy, politics and economics followed by a legal practice course at The University of York. He joined AWB Charlesworth in October 2019 in the commercial property department.
Thomas first worked as a legal secretary, then as a paralegal. After three years of hard work and support to the rest of the team, he successfully applied for a training contract with the firm, supported by the directors who saw his potential.
Now, after two years as a trainee, Tom has qualified a solicitor and will specialise in commercial property.
Along the way, Tom has won Apprentice of the Year at the 2023 Craven Business Awards due to his ‘can-do’ attitude, work ethic, care and attention in his work. He has also presented on legal ethics at Ermysted’s Grammar School. Tom now handles his own transactions, running a large portfolio of property management matters.
Alongside Thomas, AWB Charlesworth is supporting Katie Miller in her trainee solicitor route to qualification and Emma Davies via the solicitor apprentice route.
Two more solicitors are furthering their specialisms via STEP (Society for Trust and Estate Practitioners) exams and the firm has also seen staff qualify via the new SQE (Solicitors Qualifying Exam).
