The real estate team at a leading Sheffield and Chesterfield legal firm has continued its expansion – adding a new member and promoting another.
Joseph Duffy joins BRM as a solicitor specialising in commercial property, while Mario Esposito gains his second promotion in four years, rising to the role of associate solicitor.
Joe previously worked at Sheffield Crown Court, as a court clerk and later as a listing officer. He then joined a law firm as a paralegal in construction and engineering, including a secondment at Lloyds Banking Group, in London.
Most recently, Joe qualified as a solicitor at another Sheffield legal firm, with seats in litigation, insolvency, corporate and commercial property. His background in real estate brings experience in advising clients on property transactions, commercial leasing and portfolio refinancing.
He said: “When I learned of an opening in BRM’s real estate team, I absolutely wanted to continue my development at a highly ambitious law firm under the tutelage of experienced solicitors who work across a number of different property related disciplines.
“I’m looking forward to learning from my new colleagues and getting stuck into my new role. I’m also excited to contribute to the firm’s success and hone my craft under the leadership and guidance of the real estate team.”
Claire Mayfield-Tulip, director and head of operations real estate, said: “We’re delighted to welcome Joseph Duffy to BRM, with his recruitment demonstrating our continued growth and investment in the Sheffield and wider legal market.
“His appointment is part of BRM’s ongoing commitment to invest in junior lawyers, so we can develop great lawyers now and for the future.
“Joe joins our cohort of early career solicitors who are gaining valuable technical knowledge, while developing their client engagement and networking skills. We’re sure that Joe will be a great addition to our real estate team.”
Mario has been a member of the real estate team at BRM since November 2022, after qualifying as a solicitor earlier that year at Knights PLC. Having joined BRM as a solicitor, he was promoted to senior solicitor in May 2024 and has now stepped up again, to associate solicitor.
Mario’s experience spans commercial real estate matters, including secured lending, sales, purchases, auctions, and landlord and tenant work.
He said: “I am thrilled by my promotion and grateful to the firm for the opportunity to continue my development during this period of growth.
“BRM has provided me with an excellent platform since qualification and being supported by such a great team has only enhanced my experience at the firm.
“I would like to thank all of my colleagues and mentors for their support and encouragement, which has given me the ability and confidence to provide the best possible service to my clients.”
Adrian Sheehan, executive director and head of real estate at BRM, said: “At BRM, we place great value in the continual development and progression of our solicitors through all aspects of their career.
“At all levels of the firm, from trainee solicitors to directors, we prioritise personal growth and development, providing a workplace where colleagues can shape their own career.
“Mario’s promotion from senior solicitor to associate solicitor is hard-earned and well deserved, and we look forward to supporting him further as his career and client following progresses. Well done, Mario.”
