Leeds law firm announces 9 promotions

Leeds law firm Ward Hadaway has announced 9 promotions, including 3 to managing associates.

The promotions form part of a wider round of 19 across the firm, highlighting Ward Hadaway’s focus on developing talent from within. Nearly half of those promoted this year started their legal careers with Ward Hadaway, including Alicia Vickers, who joined as a trainee in 2014 and has since progressed to managing associate in the firm’s real estate team.

The 9 Leeds promotions span the firm’s commercial dispute resolution, corporate, employment, housing, private client and real estate teams.

Steven Petrie, Managing Partner at Ward Hadaway, said: “These promotions recognise the hard work, professionalism and commitment shown by colleagues across the whole business.

“It is particularly pleasing to see so many people who started their legal careers with Ward Hadaway continuing to develop and progress with the firm. Nearly half of those promoted this year trained with us, including Alicia Vickers, whose promotion to managing associate shows the career progression people can build here.

“That progression reflects the culture we work hard to maintain. People are given responsibility, supported by experienced colleagues and encouraged to keep developing at every stage of their careers. It is also a reflection of the time and care that goes into training, supervision and mentoring across the firm.

“Each of those promoted has made a strong contribution to the firm, our clients and their teams. Their progression is very well deserved, and I am confident they will continue to play an important role in Ward Hadaway’s growth.”

The Leeds promotions are as follows:

•                          Sam Walker (Associate) in the Commercial Dispute Resolution department

•                          Rachael Butterworth (Associate) in the Corporate department

•                          Jess Hurwood (Associate) and Natalie Payne (Managing Associate) in the Employment department

•                          Joanna Oakes (Associate) in the Housing department

•                          Sophie Fox (Associate) in the Private Client department

•                          Rebecca Webster (Associate), Matthew Hills (Managing Associate) and Alicia Vickers (Managing Associate) in the Real Estate department

Emma Digby, Executive Partner in Ward Hadaway’s Leeds office, said: “These promotions are a real credit to the individuals involved and to the teams they are part of in Leeds.

“We have talented people working across a broad range of practice areas, and this year’s promotions recognise the quality of their work, the way they support clients and the contribution they make to the office.

“It is particularly pleasing to see people continuing to build their careers with Ward Hadaway. That reflects the strength of the team here and the support available to people as they take on more responsibility.”

Ward Hadaway employs nearly 600 people across its national network of offices in Birmingham, Leeds, Newcastle, Manchester and Teesside.
