Following a record £43m financial year, Flint Bishop has strengthened its executive leadership with the appointment of Mark Johnson as Chief Financial Officer, bringing in a commercially minded, data-driven finance leader to accelerate the firm’s next phase of national growth.
Johnson joins from Browne Jacobson, where he played a pivotal role in a period of sustained expansion, helping to scale revenue from £70m to £130m in five years while driving improved profitability through disciplined financial strategy and targeted commercial initiatives.
With more than 15 years’ experience across the legal and financial services sectors, Johnson combines deep technical expertise with the key attributes of a modern CFO: strategic insight, commercial rigour, operational discipline and the ability to translate complex financial data into clear, actionable decisions. His background includes senior financial planning and analysis roles at global organisations including Equifax, Experian and Capital One.
At Flint Bishop, Johnson will lead the firm’s financial strategy with a clear focus on enabling growth, strengthening financial performance and embedding a highly accountable, forward-looking finance function. Working closely with the executive team, he will play a central role in driving investment decisions, supporting geographic expansion and acquisitions, and enhancing financial governance across the business.
A core part of his remit will be to modernise and elevate the firm’s finance capability—developing a technology-enabled, insight-led function that empowers leaders with real-time data, sharper forecasting and improved visibility of performance.
Qamer Ghafoor, Chief Executive of Flint Bishop, commented:
“Mark is exactly the calibre of CFO we need at this stage in our journey. He brings a rare combination of commercial acumen, strategic clarity and a proven ability to scale organisations at pace. His focus on data-led decision-making, financial discipline and transformation will be instrumental as we continue to grow nationally and invest in the future of the firm.”
Johnson added:
“Flint Bishop has built a strong platform for growth and has clear ambition for the future. I am excited to be joining a business that is not only scaling, but doing so with a clear strategic focus. The role of the modern CFO goes far beyond reporting, it is about driving performance, enabling confident decision-making and ensuring the business has the financial insight and discipline to succeed at scale. I look forward to working with the leadership team to deliver sustainable growth, strengthen financial performance and build a best-in-class, technology-enabled finance function.”
