Blacks oversees giant US acquisition of Comms-care

Blacks Solicitors has advised Comms-care during its acquisition by global technology distributor Ingram Micro.

Ingram Micro, which is listed on the New York Stock Exchange and is ranked 62nd in the Fortune 500 list of the United States’ biggest companies, has paid an undisclosed sum for Comms-care, which has its headquarters in Northwich.

David Paterson and Alex Hall, of Black, provided legal advice to the IT service provider throughout the deal.

Paterson, a corporate and commercial partner at Blacks, said that the firm had worked with Comms-care and its owners for the last 12 years, providing them with legal support from start-up to the current shareholder exit.

“We are very proud to have worked with chairman Peter Lloyd, managing director Ben Davies and technical director Darren Briscoe and even more so of their achievements with the business,” he said.

“We’re sure Comms-care, as part of the Ingram Micro Group, will continue to go from strength to strength.”

Comms-care’s major shareholders –Peter Lloyd, Ben Davies and Darren Briscoe – bought the business in 2010 in a management buyout.

It has enjoyed significant organic growth over the years and in 2014 expanded further with the acquisition of Runcorn-based Platform Consultancy Services.

Following the sale to Ingram Micro, the business will continue to trade as Comms-care and the shareholders will remain in their posts to steer its future growth.

Comms-care, which was founded in 2002 and has 225 staff, provides IT support and maintenance to around 850 IT resellers, distributors and vendors across the UK, Ireland and Europe.
