£9million turnover push sees Holden Smith appoints Head of Litigation

Holden Smith, the Yorkshire and Manchester based law firm, has announced the appointment of Paul Phillips as head of litigation amid plans to hit £9m turnover by the end of October this year.

Phillips joins the firm following previous roles as litigation manager at national and international legal firms and will be based at Holden Smith’s Horsforth office and cover the whole of Yorkshire and the North West.

His focus will be civil litigation cases for individuals and businesses including contract disputes, financial claims, personal injury claims, and criminal injury cases.

Holden Smith was founded in 2019 by Bancroft and co-director, James Smith. The firm now employs more than 90 people with offices in Huddersfield, Leeds, Horsforth, Elland, Queensbury and Manchester.

It recorded a turnover of £8.6million at the end of its last financial year.

David Bancroft, director at Holden Smith, said, “We’re very pleased to welcome someone with Paul’s experience to the firm. His appointment is a key milestone in the growth of Holden Smith as we push forward with ambitious plans to expand our litigation team and client portfolio.

“With his extensive experience supporting businesses and individuals with dispute resolution, Paul is absolutely the right person to support us with this.”

Commenting on his appointment, Paul Phillips said, “Holden Smith is clearly an ambitious firm that is going places and as soon as I spoke with David about the role, I knew it was where I wanted to be.

“I’m delighted to be joining as Head of Litigation at an exciting time with further growth on the horizon and look forward to working closely with the team to establish and grow our litigation team.”
