Martin is described as a practical lawyer and someone who can explain complex issues simply and clearly.

He is Head of Construction and has specialised since leaving University in 1974 as a Construction and Engineering lawyer both as an in house legal advisor to major international building civil engineering and property development groups and in private practice. Martin has extensive experience of all aspects of building and civil engineering contracts and documentation both on the non contentious and contentious sides. Martin’s experience includes the drafting and negotiation of both main and sub-contracts on a bespoke basis together with amendments to all major standard forms of contract. Martin also has extensive experience of documentation associated with construction projects for example professional appointments, warranties, novation agreements and security documentation.

Martin is familiar with all principle forms of main and sub-contract in use in the United Kingdom and internationally including GC Works, JCT 2005, ICE, NEC, Fidic and including partnership and framework agreements.

Martin’s experience includes work in the PFI/PPPBSF/Lift fields acting for main contractors in relation to projects in health, education and waste management.

Martin also presents courses and seminars on construction and related matters and particular forms of contract and is a part time lecturer with the University of Lincoln.
