Gerard is an experienced lawyer and mediator who specialises in commercial dispute avoidance, management and resolution.


Gerard has many years experience of acting for major UK corporates when disputes arise such as Kellogg, Mitsubishi, RAC, Mercedes, Petroplus, Molson Coors, Honeywell, The Australian Trade Commission, The Shepherd Group and The Football Association.

He has developed a specialism in the housebuilding industry, acting on cases for developers ranging from civil regulatory claims to disputes with contractors, agents, local authorities, the NHBC, consultants, professionals and customers (including dealing with customer Group actions).

He has been recognised as a leading commercial dispute lawyer in both The Legal 500 and Chambers every year since 1994.

In addition, both The Legal 500 and Chambers rank him as one of the top 50 mediators in the UK. He sits on the Court of Appeal (Civil Division) panel of mediators as well as CEDR Chambers and ADR Group.


In the last few years his most complex cases have involved:

A 10 day trial in the Technology and Construction Court in London before Lord Judge Jackson involving four parties with a value of £17 million.

A complex Court of Appeal dispute with a value of over £1 million between a Land Agent and a PLC over the introduction of land, both of which had a successful outcome.

Gerard has also recently handled a major UK regulatory action involving accusations of a major UK data protection breach for a UK plc involving threats of a major criminal prosecution and civil group action.
