Andy is a partner at accountants and business advisers BDO LLP in Leeds. BDO produces an annual Yorkshire Report, which looks at the health of Yorkshire business and which this year focused on the opportunity and challenge of the Northern Powerhouse.

Andy specialises in providing advice to Local Government,  in particular assisting authorities with service reviews, commercialisation, commissioning and the procurement of services and major capital projects. He is a CIPFA accountant with a background in Local Government finance and management consultancy. Andy began his career with Kirklees Council in West Yorkshire and has also worked for Capita, Grant Thornton and KPMG. His clients have included a wide range of single tier and two-tier local authorities along with major central government departments, NHS Trusts, Police and Fire Authorities and private sector suppliers to the public sector.

Andy has provided financial, commercial and procurement advice on many public / private partnership social infrastructure projects across the UK, covering schools, hospitals police and fire facilities, including a number in the North, and also advised on major Government IT projects. He is a regular contributor to the Cabinet Office’s Commissioning Academy programme  and a Local Government Association peer reviewer. In 2015 Andy was also appointed to an independent panel reviewing the requirements for secondary schools in the States of Guernsey.
